AeroDiscover has been proud to play an integral role in the UKRI/STEM Learning Targeted Intervention Programme.
During Phase 1 (2024/25), we worked with SEND schools across Lincolnshire and Leicestershire as part of LEBC’s Targeted Intervention Programme, co-delivering a series of bespoke aviation-themed sessions in partnership with the British Model Flying Association (BMFA).
The programme has a dual focus — to help STEM Ambassadors from the aviation sector feel more confident volunteering in SEND environments, and to inspire SEND students by showing them that exciting, attainable careers in aviation and STEM are within their reach.
Each session is hands-on, engaging, and full of fun. Students rotate around a carousel of activities, including flight simulators, Aerojets, stomp rockets, and Careers Pong — all designed to explore the principles of flight in a practical and memorable way.
The response so far has been overwhelmingly positive, with fantastic feedback from Ambassadors, teachers, and students alike.
Phase 2 is now live! If you’d like to offer support, get involved, or find out more, please email jacqueline.elton@leics-ebc.org.uk — we’d love to hear from you.
